What time does my training start?
Our EWP and Forklift courses start at 8am but we ask that you are on site at 7:45am to ensure a prompt start.
Where can I get trained?
We can train you at one of our three brances (Mount Wellington, Auckland, Sockburn, Christchurch and Porirua, Wellington) or we can come to your site and train you there.
If you don't have a machine to train on, check out Access Solutions and Forklift Solutions for your hiring needs.
** Do I need to be fully Vaccinated to attend a course?** Yes, we require all our trainees to be fully Vaccinated to be able to attend a course. Our instructors will check Vaccine Passes before the start of the course in the morning
What do I need to bring to my training course, what do you provide?
You'll need to bring your own footwear - steel toe or closed toe footwear - and a valid form of ID (passport, driving license etc). We will provide you with a high-vis and a harness (course dependent), plus all of the training material required.
You'll need a COVID test 72hours before the course starts and will need to bring proof of the negative result with you on the day.
How long does an EWP/Forklift course take?
Both our EWP and Forklift courses are both 1 day.
Can I still get a physical copy of my License? Yes! Although Silvercard has moved to a digital app, you can still get your physical license printed for a small fee. Select 'Physical copy of License' on the booking page or let us know via email, or in person, and we can get it printed for you.
What qualification will I receive when I finish the training, how do I know it is any good?
We are HIANZ SIlvercard accredited so you will receive what is considered the 'gold standard' EWP and Forklift training. All of our trainers are Skills registered assessors who will register your NZQA Unit Standards for you.
You will receive Unit Standards from NZQA on your Record of Achievement after successful completion of your training course.
How many people can I get trained per day on an EWP and Forklift course?
For training on a single category EWP course, max 6-8 people (depending on the type of machine ).
*For training on a double category EWP course - eg Scissor and Boom or Truck mounted and Cherrypicker, max 5 people. *
For training on a Forklift course, max 8 people.
Is lunch provided?
During this period of time with COVID, we are unable to offer a lunch to our trainees. There are snack/lunch bars close by as an option.
What if my EWP/Forklift ticket is due to expire, do I still need to do a full training course?
If you already have a license that is in date, you'll only need to do a refresher course. Make sure that you bring a copy of your NZQA Record of Achievement or any proof that your license is still in date. Once it does expire, you will need to sit a full course.
What if I want to add an EWP category to my current license, do I need to attend a full training course?
*No, if you have already passed the theory assessment (Unit Standard 23966) then you will only need to attend the practical assessment in the afternoon. (Proof of theory assessment completion is required).
How long does my license last for?
Your license will last you three years. Therefore if you are trained in October 2021, it will expire on the first day in November 2024.
What if I don't have a HIANZ Silvercard but I am booking a refresher course?
Don't worry, so long as your current license is in date, we can still do your refresher and you'll get a Silvercard upon successful completion of the course.
How long will it take to receive my EWP/Forklift ticket?
The license will typically take 1-2 weeks to get to you. If you need a copy before your license arrives, let us know via email.
